Attempts to Improve

I haven't been regularly posting art in what seems like forever. I have sporadic moments where I create a few things for people, but then I'm totally silent again. I was working on a closed species and a pixel adopt shop on Chickensmoothie, but I lost interest in both because I felt like my artwork and my ideas were totally lame. I have been feeling like my artwork and ideas have been totally lame for awhile now. I am just so discouraged lately because I see so many other adoptable species that are well thought out, unique, creative, and the artwork and designs are stunningly beautiful. And I haven't been able to figure out how they do it.

But, with the help and encouragement of my boyfriend (who is an amazing person), I've come to learn that all it takes is time and hard work to get my artwork to be the same quality as the work of the artists I admire so much. So my boyfriend has been giving me tips and hints of how he draws. He told me to start with realism (or as close as I can get to it) and to study the anatomy of real life animals. So I've been sketching dogs. They come in such a wide range of shapes and sizes that it gives me a lot of practice. My boyfriend says that I have to "draw what I see and not what I think" because if I draw what I think, it's not going to look right.

I'm trying really hard to improve my work, and I will try and remember to post stuff as I practice. So if any of my watchers are wondering if I've dropped off the face of the Earth, know that I'm still here. I'm just off in a corner right now, sketching and learning.
